Piaval @ ADI Design Index 2017
From October 26th to November 8th 2017, the EARL chair will be presented in Rome at the “ADI Design Index 2017” exhibition, at the Acquario Romano. The design event comes after the exhibition held in Milan – at the National Museum of Science and Technology – and the great success of the opening ceremony conducted – on October 9th-_ by Rai News’ journalist, Laura Squilaci. Among the speakers were Luciano Galimberti, President of ADI (Italian Association for Industrial Design) and Nicola Lener, head of the Office for the Internationalisation of Enterprises at the Ministery of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Earl collection, designed by Daniel Rous/Fabrica, was selected by the ADI Design Permanent Observatory in the category “Design for Living”.
It was appreciated for technical research and the accuracy of its sleek aesthetics, hiding careful and complex woodworking skills in its simple design. “High quality” and “responsibility of design” were among the keywords that the 150 members of the ADI Observatory have given priority to in their selection criteria. Two aspects that Earl collection perfectly satisfies. Thanks to the ADI Index nomination, Piaval now enters the pre-selection of the XXV Compasso d’Oro Award, the prestigious and most influential international design award, scheduled in 2018.
Earl, as well as all the selected projects, is published in the annual yearbook ADI Index 2017.
